Aminatta Forna

Aminatta Forna is an award winning author who was born in Scotland, and raised in Sierra Leone and Britain. She studied law at University College London. She has written 4 novels, one of which, The Memory of Love, won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize Best Book Award 2011. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of the Folio Academy. In 2003 she established the Rogbonko Project to build a school in a village in Sierra Leonne, which now runs a number of projects in education, sanitation and maternal health. She has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours 2017.
