Ahmed Rashid

Ahmed Rashid is a journalist and best-selling author born in Pakistan. He studied at the Government College Lahor and Cambridge University. He lives in Lahore with his wife and two children. He is the author of five books, including ‘Taliban’ which has been translated into 40 languages and has sold 1.5 million copies in English. He has combined his writing and investigative reporting with widespread involvement in human rights movements and peace building in Afghanistan. He is appointed to the International Advisory Board of Central Asia Survey, a reputable resource on issues related to Central Asia. He is seen as one of the world’s leading experts on the social and political situations in Pakistan and Afghanistan and has won several rewards including Italy’s prestigious Tiziano Terzani Literary Prize for the best non-fiction book of the year for ‘Descent into Chaos’.
