The Walled Garden Arts & Music Programme features a host of music, film, performances, visual arts exhibitions, workshops, food & drink, and walks and cycle rides in the beautiful surroundings of Traquair House’s Walled Garden.

9:00-9:45 Meditation – Raj Rai
Start the festival with a meditation practice led by Rajesh Rai, meditation expert and human rights barrister. Explore techniques such as relaxation, breath awareness, focus and concentration through the Royal Path.
9:15-11:15 Woodland Hike – Fi Martynoga
Join Fi Martynoga on a hike from Traquair House on the Southern Upland Way, before exploring the new footpath up to the Satyr Sykes and returning to Traquair House. Please note that this walk involves hills, but is on a sturdy path.
9:30-10:30 Cycle Ride – Shannon Galpin
Join adventurer, writer, and cyclist Shannon Galpin on a cycle ride along the River Tweed while she discusses her work in Afghanistan and her efforts to promote social justice through cycling.
10:00-10:50 Yoga – Jackie Le Brocq
Unwind and find your balance with with Jackie Le Brocq as she leads a yoga session in Traquair House’s beautiful Walled Garden.
11:00-12:00 Promenade of Discovery – Nigel Osborne
Nigel Osborne leads a promenade of discovery through the grounds of Traquair House, accompanied by Syrian oud, gongs, violin, and cello, as he explores the power of music and its impact on a sense of place, and home.
12:00-12:30 Art, Conflict & Remembering
Join a discussion session about the Bogside Artists exhibition with the artists and curator Adrienne Chaplin.
12:30-13:00 Considering the Women
Choman Hardi explores the equivocal relationship between immigrants and their homeland – the constant push and pull – as well as the breakdown of an intermarriage, and the plight of women in an aggressive patriarchal society and as survivors of political violence.
13:00-13:45 Whisky Tasting
Sample local Scottish Borders whisky from the Three Stills Distillery as part of a guided tasting called Borders Barley to Borders Bottles in our tasting tent!
14:10-14:45 Lunchtime Music -Millie Hanlon-Cole
Enjoy your lunch while local singer-songwriter Millie Hanlon-Cole fills the Walled Garden with her enchanting selection of songs.
18:00-19:00 Rise Kagona & Drinks Reception
Join us as we draw the weekend to a close with a drinks reception accompanied by the musical stylings of Rise Kagona in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Beyond Borders International Festival!
