Jamila-Aisha P. Sanguila is a Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) analyst with over 15 years of experience working in conflict-affected settings. Her work focuses on the intersection of WPS, dialogue, mediation, and community-based conflict transformation. She supports institutions, donors, and advisory clients by translating field-based realities into practical, context-sensitive strategies for policy and programming.
She has led and contributed to multi-stakeholder initiatives at local, national, and international levels, integrating policy engagement, applied research, and collaboration with peacebuilding and gender networks. Her work centers on strengthening women’s meaningful participation in peace processes, advancing locally led mediation efforts, and designing interventions grounded in lived experience.
She holds a master’s degree from the UN-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE), specializing in gender and peacebuilding and is a Salzburg Global Fellow and a Beyond Borders Scotland Fellow.
Her areas of expertise include strategic advisory, program design and evaluation, capacity building, dialogue facilitation, mediation training, and integrating psychosocial and resilience-informed approaches into institutional decision-making. She writes and speaks on WPS, trauma-informed and gender-sensitive peacebuilding, and preventing violent extremism, with publications in platforms such as Diplomatic Courier. She is also a member of The Expert Network (TEN) at World in 2050.
